Candidates for the 2012 PTA Executive

The current PTA will be concluding its term this December. We have all worked hard to make this year's PTA a success and have had the support of some amazing volunteers. At this point, I would like to introduce the candidates that have come forward for next year's PTA. They were each asked to write a few words about their background and involvement in ICS. I think the PTA is in for a great year with some excellent people on the executive. The new executive will be formally introduced after our next PTA meeting.

Fall Festival Results

The Fall Festival results are in: Approximately 2,900 people attended the festival. After expenses, the festival raised $2700 USD. Funds raised from PTA events go to support other school events or are reinvested into the next year's festivals. For example, PTA will be supporting the charity basketball tournament at ICS this weekend with some of the funds raised at the festival. PTA Elections

The PTA is looking for candidates for the Executive Council and several committees. The Executives hold their positions for one year (January to December). PTA elections will take place in the first week of December. Contact Tanya Barnett at tanyabarnett35@hotmail.com if you are interested. We are also looking for individuals for the following positions: Room Parent Coordinator, International Day Chair, Spring Carnival Chair. The deadline for submitting your name for one of these positions is 10 November.

Dear PTA members,
A very warm welcome to all new parents that joined us this summer. Welcome back for all others, as we are coming to the end of the rainy season and get ready to celebrate Meskel.

The first PTA meeting took place on 16 September, and it was a great pleasure to see so many new faces and the energy you all brought in for a great school year of 2011-12. We certainly have a lot of plans to bring joy, happiness and lots of fun to all, as well as to do our part in making the school a greater place.

The Parent Teacher Association of ICS

The mission of the Parent Teacher Association at ICS is to support student development and enrich the ICS school experience for its students. This is achieved through supporting and organizing events and activities that fulfill the mission.

The PTA would like to wish everyone a wonderful summer. Thanks to everyone who has helped with our various events over the past year. For those leaving Addis, we wish you the best in your endeavors and will miss you. Please keep in touch and share ideas. We hope next year will be equally successful which is why we’d like to ask all returning parents to bring back some candy for next year’s trick-or-treat activity.

PTA Carnival Was a Success!

The PTA Carnival last Saturday provided our children and community with a day of fun, joy and integration. 1,250 + people from the community were estimated to be in campus. Some children were asking "when is the next carnival?"

All welcome to the ICS Spring Carnival!! Please invite your friends and ask your guests to bring IDs for security gates. The afternoon will be filled with games like Wii bowling, bean bag toss and the fishing game. There is face painting and fortune telling too! You can make your own masks at the crafts center and wear it to the mask parade at 4:00 PM!
