2012 Ski Trip
Submitted on Thu, 09/01/2011 - 16:54During our 2012 April Break, 31 March to 7 April, ICS teachers will chaperone grade 5-12 students, to Anzere, Switzerland. Students will ski with Viamonde, a Swiss company, which specializes in providing ski and snowboard programs to international schools. Students receive small group instruction from a dynamic team of experienced and caring staff. Beginner, intermediate and advanced skiers are welcome. The ICS ski trip is an opportunity for students to spend time away from their family to establish independence.
The cost of this year’s trip is expected to be approximately US$2500 – US$3000. The exact cost, which will be determined in the next two months, will include airfare to Geneva, bus fare to Anzere, room and board at the chalet, rental of boots, ski clothing and helmet and all ski lift tickets. The only additional cost for each family will be a minimal amount of spending money, the purchase of ski socks, ski gloves and goggles and the cost of a Swiss visa, if needed.
If you are interested in your child joining us and need more information, please see Viamonde’s website – www.viamonde.com. Contact Mr. Deron Marvin at deron.marvin(at)icsaddis.edu.et to be placed on the list. There are only 40 spaces available.

Tennis Court Are Busy
Submitted on Fri, 08/20/2010 - 12:13We want to give our children priority
Our tennis courts are very busy each weekend. For some of our parents and students it is very difficult to find time on the court to play a game. Please be aware of the NEW PROTOCOLS We want our students to have first priority at all times to play on the tennis courts. As a school community, we want to make sure our children’s free time is utilized efficiently and with purpose.
1st come, 1st served (with exceptions for ICS students)
Exceptions
- Two or more students that are waiting to play a game will access the courts first, before student lessons or parent/ICS staff lessons/games.
- Students that are taking a lesson with a ICS coach/parent have the next priority, before or parent/ICS staff lessons/games
- Parents/ICS staff access the courts after all students have had their opportunity to play
Jr. Coed Soccer Team Shows Grit and Determination
Submitted on Fri, 03/19/2010 - 12:36Congratulations to the Jr. Coed soccer team on the hard fought 7-7 draw against the Italian School. We outplayed a bigger team for the entire game, conceding goals due to error rather than being outplayed. We played as a team and even though we were 7-4 down with less than 10 minutes to go, we kept our heads up and scored 3 unanswered goals to tie the game up. Well done. Nathan scored 4 of the 7 goals!! Special kudos to Bigani, Jasper, Diji, and Victor for your hard work. A great team effort, we are all very proud of you!!
- Coaches Hailu, Dagne, and Michael
3rd Place for the Girls at ISSEA
Submitted on Thu, 03/11/2010 - 16:32After losing our starting center within three hours of landing in Harare, Zimbabwe and struggling with games in the Thursday and Friday round robin portion of the tournament, we placed 5th out of 6. The Varsity Girls pulled themselves together and fought hard every moment to make it to the semi-finals. We weren't able to contain the ISK Lions in the second half as we had done in the first and ultimately lost a very competitive game. Playing for 3rd place against South Africa, the girls made sure the 'other' Eagles' knew what hustle and hard work can do! Congratulations to the girls for their 3rd place trophy! (See it in the reception area!) Players selected to the alltournament team were Laura Mahr for her outstanding offensive performance and in her first ISSEA appearance, rookie (9th grade) Claire Hourtiq for her outstanding defensive performance! - Coach Ashby

We eventually took the game by 41 - 28 with our whole bench running at an admirable level of commitment. Once again, congratulations to all the players for a well-earned victory.
