Note from the Middle School Principal

The 2010-2011 school year is off to a great start. Many thanks to our dedicated faculty and staff here at ICS for bringing the school together. I have spent much of my first few days in classrooms asking students what they are learning. Already, students in grades 7 and 8 are beginning to use the scientific method. Many of the grade 6 students are firmly establishing themselves into the middle school. They have learned how to read their schedules, open their lockers, and make it to class on time.

If there are problems with placements in core classes or levels for math or language, we will try to zero in on each student’s optimal program as quickly as possible. Students that are obviously misplaced (e.g., a fluent Spanish speaker in Spanish 1A) should see our high school counselor, Don Tingley, right away. Other preferential changes to one’s schedule should be handled by Mr. Tingley next week. Feel free to contact me at anytime for questions or concerns.
