IB Year 1 and 2 News

IB Year One: Grade 11 students listened to their teachers engage in lively debate on topics ranging from capital punishment, genetic engineering, to the value of history. Various students also posed probing questions and took the "hotseat" to add insightful commentary. This discussion, known as "The Theory Of Knowledge (TOK) Round Table" is an opportunity to participate in a focused discussion on a topic relevant to Theory of Knowledge. In the Round Table discussion, participants systematically question and examine issues and principles related to TOK. By listening to teachers articulating different and varying points of view, students achieve a deeper understanding of concepts and an appreciation of the value of discussion as a means to construct meaning using disciplined analysis, interpretation, listening, and participation. Grade 11 students also participated in a two-day science event this week. "The Group 4 Project" is designed to provide students the opportunity to engage in a trans-disciplinary scientific inquiry with their classmates. This year's theme, "The World in 2021" focused students to create and propose solutions to some of the pressing problems of our times, such a global warming, depletion of fresh water sources, and "green" sources of energy. The Group 4 Project is a compulsory feature of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program, enthusiastically carried out by out science teachers and students.

IB Year Two: Final exams continue for our seniors, with Biology and Group 2 Languages remaining. Exams finish on 22 May. Also on 22 May, senior students and teachers celebrate the end of IBDP exams with the traditional Senior Barbecue, to be held on Tuesday 22 May from 4:00—6:00 PM.
