High School Assembly: We choose who we are
Today, following a performance of the song “Credo” by the combined Middle / High School Choir, the high school was invited and challenged to consider how our day-to-day choices make us who we are. The word “credo” or “creed” refers to a set of principles and beliefs. Two examples are “The ICS Way” (take care of yourself, take care of others, and take care of this place) and the IB Learner Profile characteristics that students, teachers, and parents share as we work together.
We looked more closely at how choices express IB Learner Profile characteristics—such as being open minded, reflective, communicators, and thinkers—as well as the importance of taking responsibility for the consequences of our choices. Both teachers and students alike considered the interaction between our sense of community and desire to support one another, and our own individual responsibilities and choices.
