Grade 11 University Planning

The process for university planning will begin in January 2011. Three tasks I would like them to accomplish over the break are:
• To create a folder or binder specifically titled ‘My University Planning’ folder.
• To discuss with their parents where they most likely would attend university, understanding the cost of attending universities differ greatly depending on where you are applying.
• If your mother tongue (the first language you learned or spoke) is not English or if your passport was from a non-English speaking country, to investigate and book a date to write the TOEFL exam in the next couple of months (www.toefl.com) is a must!
• Many of the grade 11 students will be writing one of the SAT tests left in this school year. My personal suggestion is either the 5 May or 2 June sitting. Another option is for them to write the ACT on either 11 February or 14 April. You could write one of each – an SAT and ACT – to find out which one best fits your style.
• Finally, please mark 9 February on your calendar as this will be the first of two very important College Planning Evenings for parents of juniors.
