Using the ICS Network

We have been in the fortunate position of being able to provide a helpful service to the ICS community by allowing parents to use our wireless network to access the internet and use our facilities to get work done. We hope to continue offering this service as we expand our facilities, but we ask for the help of all our community members to keep things running well.

First, we ask all members of the community to follow The ICS Way in Technology:

I can make a difference by:

  1. Taking care of myself

    1. Protecting my privacy

      1. I will keep my personal information to myself, including my account and password.

      2. I will avoid or ignore people or sites that ask for my information …and inform the IT department of such dangers.

    2. Keeping myself safe online

      1. I will pay attention to where I’m going on the web and look for safe and appropriate sites.

      2. I will quickly go back out if I accidentally go someplace dangerous or inappropriate …and inform the IT department of such incidents.

  2. Taking care of others

    1. Being polite and respectful to others

      1. I will respect their privacy and not give out their personal information, nor try to find out their password or account info.

      2. I will practice propernetiquette and be polite.

    2. Respecting other people’s ownershipof what they create

      1. I will not copy or download things without proper permission.

      2. I will give credit when I use other people’s work.

    3. Being considerate of other people’s need to use the network and equipment

      1. I will use school equipment for school work.

      2. I will avoid activities that will slow down the network too much (such as streaming video or downloading large files).

  3. Taking care of this place

    1. Respecting and protecting theequipment

      1. I will use equipment safely and carefully.

      2. I will report any problems to the responsible persons.

      3. I will keep my own computer's anti-virus and anti-malware software updated regularly.

    2. Respecting and helping to preserve the network

      1. I will use the network properly and not do things that might harm or damage the system.

      2. I will work in a positive way on the network and Internet, doing constructive work that will help make it better.

Second, we ask all members of the community to help us preserve the integrity and security of our network by registering your equipment regularly.

We will need to renew the authorization of all non-ICS equipment to access the network on an annual basis. This will enable us to ensure that only current members of the ICS community can use our resources, and make sure that we can regulate and control our system. We will also ask all members of the community to sign a responsible use agreement, and ask that community members keep regularly updated anti-virus and anti-malware software on their computers.
