High School Computers
High School students learn about computers and how to use them in several ways.
Specific Computer Classes
At present, there are three classes that students can enroll in:
- Computer Applications: a one-semester general overview of computer applications. Students will learn general skills in using productivity applications, using the internet intelligently and safely, basic programming skills and more.
- Advanced Computer Applications: a one-semester course in which students can study specific computer programs in greater depth, working independently to create a project. Possible areas to study would be in programming, 3D modelling, photo editing, video editing, web page creation, and more.
- College Tech: a one-semester course intended for seniors who wish to learn more about specific skills that would be used in universities. Students will learn about blogging, social networking, file sharing, internet and computer security, and more.
Integrated Skills
In many high school classes, academic subject teachers will require students to use computers to perform tasks specific to the subject. Teachers work with students and the IT department to ensure that students learn the skills they need to function effectively in a high-tech environment.
1:1 Laptop Program
Beginning in the 2010-2011 school year, high school students will develop and expand their computer skills through the ICS 1:1 laptop program.
