Facilities 

ICS boasts excellent technology facilities and we are constantly aiming to improve them. At present, ICS has the following facilities:

  • Computer Labs: used by regularly scheduled classes and checked out for use by other teachers
    • A primary computer lab for instructing grades K-5
    • A secondary computer lab for instructing grades 6-12
  • Laptops: checked out by whole or partial classes
    • A set of laptops for primary classes, used for class and individual student practice, work and instruction
    • A set of laptops (more than a class) for secondary, used for research, class work, and other projects
  • Classroom computers: used by teachers, TAs and students
    • Every classroom has at least one or two computers for use by students and teachers
    • Additional computers are in the Library, student resource rooms and other locations
  • Peripherals: used by individual students, groups and classes in their work
    • Digital still and video cameras for multimedia projects
    • Scanners, microphones, document cameras and other additional peripherals for various projects
    • Interactive whiteboards are used in various classrooms for interactive technology instruction
    • Digital projectors in both fixed and portable locations
    • Scientific "probeware" for use in secondary science classes
  • Network: used by all members of the ICS community
    • A wired network connecting all classrooms, offices and work areas
    • A wireless network used for portable devices
    • A high-speed internet connection

As technology never stands still, ICS is always looking to expand our facilities. At present, these include

  • A 1:1 Laptop program for our secondary grades
  • Mobile computing options (laptop computers) for teachers and teaching assistants
  • Additional interactive whiteboards, projectors and document cameras for elementary and secondary classrooms
  • Additional digital media production equipment: cameras, video cameras, audio recording equipment, etc.
  • New technology for evaluating educational uses (iPod touch mobile computing devices, iPads, etc.)
  • Expansion and strengthening of our wireless network and internet connection
  • ...and more!
