Children and Technology

Facebook. Blogs. Texting. Spyware. Multitasking. Videogames.

It's a new world, and our children are fully-fledged participants in it. We adults know and understand some of it, but we certainly don't know how to navigate as fluently and easily as our children.

And is it a good thing for them to be so immersed in technology? What is all this multimedia, instant messaging, hyperconnectivity doing to their brains?

We understand that these issues are difficult, challenging ...sometimes scary ones for parents. (Obviously not for everyone - some parents are more tech savvy than many children!) We aim to involve parents in the process of developing our students to be principled and responsible users of technology.

We will continue to provide information in the Technology Corner section of the Yezare Samint (also posted on this website), conduct parent information sessions, and provide discussion forums for parents to raise issues and get advice and answers. Please help us by being part of the process. If you have a question,  a suggestion, or advice, please contact us.

Stop. Think. Connect. Stay safe online!

StaySafeOnline.org is the website for the US National Cyber Security Alliance. It has many resources for parents on how to help their children be safe online. The theme for the 2010 October CyberSafety Awareness Month is "Stop. Think. Connect." By encouraging all people to stop and think ("Think B4U Click"), the Alliance intends to spread and increase all people's security online.
