The Motley Singers have been performing as a choral society in Addis Ababa for over 45 years and are probably the only such ensemble that exists in Ethiopia. Comprised of more than 40 students, teachers, diplomats, professionals, and expatriates, the Motley Singers join together each week to share their love of music.

The Great Wenchi Run

The Great Wenchi Run, a 16KM run in support of the food run, is on Sunday 4 November. There will be a crater hike for walkers and children. The price is 400ETB for adults and 150ETB for children. Refreshments and a t-shirt will be provided. To register, please leave a sealed envelope marked ‘The Great Wenchi Run’ with names, payment, contact email address and t-shirt sizes at the British Embassy (c/o Jim McKee) or Germany Embassy (c/o Tony Lowe) and we will send joining instructions. Please register by 22 October 2012.

New Year Lunch for the Homeless 2012

There will be lunch for the homeless on Ethiopian New Year, Tuesday 11 September at St. Joseph School (Meskel Square by the big screen) from 11:45 AM-1:30 PM. We would like to get volunteers to help in serving the food, donating money and clothes. For early cloth donations, we have placed a box at the Bole Limetree. TESFA Calendars are here!

The 2005 TESFA calendars have just arrived and anyone interested in buying one can stop by the reception desk. They are great to have at home as well as for presents.

Art Show at Serenade—The face of a child

American artist Olivia Pendergast and Ethiopian artist Bisrat Shibabaw explore the concept of the face of a child. 17 May—17 June, Tuesday through Sunday at Serenade Art House. Serenade is also open for lunch and dinner; call 0911-200-072 for information and reservations.

German Church Bazaar and Jumble Sale

Many items available for sale: Saturday 2 June at 11:00 AM at the German Church nearing Sidist Kilo. Entrance is 10 birr and all proceeds go to the social work of the German Church. If you want to sell, rent a table for 100 birr. Call 0911-402-511 for more information.

Japanese Kendo Performance

KENDO is a Japanese Art of Sword fighting. We'll have several kendo experts here in Addis, and they will demonstrate this martial art, using a bamboo sword and a real sword!

Children’s Ballet Classes
