2011 Ski Trip

During our 2011 Spring Break, 26 March – 3 April, ICS teachers will chaperone grade 4-12 students, and grade 3 siblings of older students, to Anzere, Switzerland, where students will ski with Viamonde, a Swiss company which specializes in providing ski and snowboard programs to international schools. Students receive small group instruction from a dynamic team of experienced and caring staff. Beginner, intermediate and advanced skiers are welcome.

Elementary Students/Parents Open Gym

Due to the closure of all the outdoor sport fields during the rainy season, ICS will open the main gymnasium to elementary students and their parents. Parents who wish to supervise their elementary student can access the gym from 12:30 – 3:00 PM on Saturday afternoons. Please do not drop off your child with out supervision of a designated parent. The open gym is not a “drop off” for students to have “free, unsupervised” play.

Elementary ASA Information

10 FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) for the 2010-11 School Year

When do elementary ASAs begin?
Elementary ASAs will begin on Tuesday, September 28. Due to the rains and allowing Elementary teachers to complete their early assessment of the students in their class, we start all Elem ASAs at the same date and time. The Athletic & Activities office needs time to solicit ASA information from the staff, create the data base and booklet for the ASA program.

Notes from the Elementary Principal

Welcome to the 2010-11 school year! We have had a great start to the year thus far and look forward to working with new and returning families over the next year. Please mark your calendars for the evening of 27 August when we will hold “Back to School Night” from 6:00–8:00 PM. This is a night for parents to come out, meet the teacher, and learn about the curriculum. On that night you will have the opportunity to spend an extended time in your child’s classroom and visit the specialist teachers.

Elementary French Day—Date Changed

The French Day, held every year in May, is taking place this year on May 25 (changed due to IB exams). French Day is a great event at the Elementary school. Prior to that day, all of the elementary French students worked diligently on preparing dialogues and mini-sketches with the skills they learned throughout the year. Then, they memorized and acted out their skits. Each sequence is filmed and edited. The performance of each student is outstanding and contribute a lot to the success of the event.

ICS Library Guest Reader

The ICS Library Saturday Guest Reader program continues this Saturday, May 15, at 9:30 AM with a visit by ICS parent, Maureen Cunningham. Ms. Cunningham will read Oh, Kojo, How Could You? by Verna Aardema and Fire on the Mountain by Jane Kurtz and E.B. Lewis. Come and be prepared to hear two great stories about Africa. The library is open from 9-12 and this is a great time for families to read and borrow books together.
