The Talking Head

Celebrate the End of a Busy Year

It has been a very busy year at ICS Addis. 285 of our students (33%) were new this year. If you were a new family, we hope that the ICS community was as welcoming as you could have hoped for. 700 (82%) of our students are expected to return to ICS Addis next year. We will have many new faces to welcome, again.

115 parents returned our end-of-year climate survey in May. Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback on school programs.

This year we accomplished many things together as a community. We established an Annual Campaign to support excellence at ICS. We saw students and teachers involved in meaningful service to our host country and city. We focused on inquiry through our PYP candidacy, and student effort and attitudes for learning in the middle and high schools. We had championship sports teams locally and internationally. PTA Coffee Mornings and Booster Club Farmers markets continued to be a welcome gathering every month, and our Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences also brought parents and teachers together to talk about learning.

There are two very important announcements regarding access to the fields, track, courts and KG playgrounds from our Deputy Head, Dr. Zickefoose. We are starting construction projects that will affect access routes beginning today. If you’re here during the summer or if you’re interested in some of the changes you’ll see in August, please read his notes in the All School News section and you can also find it on our website here.

Thank you for your support and for working with us to provide the best possible education for our students. Regardless of where you will be in August, we hope that you have a restful summer and safe travels.
