Welcome to Highschool
On behalf of the ICS MS/HS faculty and staff, welcome to a dynamic school year! In the past few years our teachers and staff have worked hard to strengthen our programs. One of our strategic learning goals for the last three years has been to improve our students' preparation and participation in the IB Diploma program. This means we have to be doing the right things in Middle School and in grades nine and ten. Judging by the numbers of IB courses and exams our grade 11/12 students are taking, we've been very successful!
For 2009-2010 we welcome nine new teachers to the ICS middle and high school, and more than fifty new students in grades 6 to 12. There's a lot in store for everyone whether you are new or returning to ICS!
Parents are welcome to contact teachers directly if they do not understand something or they wish to share information or a concern. Email is an easy channel to use to reach teachers, or you may call our office to arrange a phone conversation or appointment with any of our staff members.
All families with children in the high school should be familiar with our Dress Code . You can download our Secondary Profile for more details about our students and their learning results. There is also more information about our programs on the Secondary web pages . Many of our teachers have web pages of their own. There are also many links for curriculum maps and the standards and benchmarks that our teachers use in planning course curricula.
Our High School is an international community. One of the greatest advantages about attending an international school is the opportunity to learn and socialize with students and teachers who come from all corners of the globe. Over 50 nationalities are represented in our student population. I challenge every high school student to get to know people from around the world, learn about their cultures and beliefs and be a positive representative of their own country and culture. Be sensitive and open-minded, and you can't help but learn! The ICS Way is also a good guide that we can all use to take care of ourselves, take care of others, and take care of this place.
Good luck and welcome to all high school students and their families for the 2009-2010 school year! You are always welcome to call or stop by the High School Office. Our doors are always open.
