Susan Stifel
Learning Support
I am thrilled to be starting my first year of teaching at ICS Addis. I will be the K-5 Learning Support teacher. Born and raised in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, I completed my B.A. (Drama) and B.Ed. (Primary-Junior) at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. Following several years of international school teaching in Switzerland, Madagascar and Thailand, I completed my M.Ed. in Special Education at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. After marrying my husband, David, I taught special education for several years in Ithaca, NY. Most recently, I have been working as an early intervention teacher and as a college instructor in Pennsylvania.
I am fortunate that my husband’s work as a development economist allows me to continue living and teaching overseas. Along with our two children, William (Gr. 8) and Lizzie (Gr. 5), we look forward to exploring Ethiopia this year and being a part of the ICS community. When not at school, I enjoy napping, eating chocolate, reading, and playing UNO and Farkle. I am a reluctant hiker and only do so to keep up with my outdoor adventure-loving family. I look forward to meeting many of the ICS families in the coming months and sharing my passion for learning with my students.
