PK-12 Support Team, and MS/HS EAL

Welcome to ICS! This is my third year working as the Middle School and High School English as an Additional Language (EAL) teacher. I believe that every student is interested in learning and doing their best. This is demonstrated in my classroom through open discussions, peer feedback and individual presentations. Outside the classroom, you will find me working with students in their content area classes (inclusion support), as well as helping them transition to a new school, language and possibly a new culture.

Prior to moving to Addis, I lived in Gallup, New Mexico, United States for 7 years. This is where I made the transition to formal education and earned my MAT in Elementary Education and my National Board Certification in English as a New Language for Middle Ages. I started my teaching career as an English conversation teacher in Chinju, South Korea after earning my BA in psychology. From there I moved to Zuunmod, Mongolia for 2 ½ years, where I worked with foreign language teachers as a Peace Corps Volunteer. These experiences showed me my passion for teaching and learning.

I have found Addis a wonderful place to call home. The culture, traditions, history and people are warm, welcoming, and diverse. I look forward to exploring new places and meeting new people this year.
