Sitara Engelbrecht-Larkin

Salutations!
My name is Sitara Engelbrecht-Larkin and I am a proud second generation International Educator. I grew up in South East Asia, primarily the Philippines and Malaysia, and happily identify myself as a Third Culture Kid.

After graduating from the International School of Kuala Lumpur I went on to earn a B.A. in education and sociology, with a focus in theater arts from Western Washington University. I have worked in several international schools including AIS Bamako, Mali, and Shanghai American School. I love the welcoming and accepting nature of international schools and thrive on the diversity of our community.

I am excited to begin my fourth year at ICS, and second year in the middle school. This year I am teaching Language Arts in seventh grade and middle school Drama, Stagecraft, and Books and Film. As a dedicated dabbler I am very excited to be involved in several electives. Middle school is a fascinating and fun age to be involved in, as students begin to develop their sense of self as an adult while holding on to childhood.

I am a firm believer of the power of performing arts to enrich lives, stretch minds, and change the world. I am looking forward to continuing to build the theater arts program with the amazing arts team here at ICS.
