Schoolwide Learning Support & Assessment

Working at ICS has been a highlight of my teaching career. This is my 5th year at ICS. I am pleased to be involved in the Student Support Services at ICS. This year I will be teaching the children enrolled in the Individualized Support Classroom. An additional role I am undertaking is School Wide Learning Support & Assessment Coordinator. My passion is helping facilitate children’s learning and growth. I consider myself an advocate for the children I work with and will pursue their interests tenaciously.

Teaching for 33 years has been a great experience. I have taught in Oregon and California before moving here to Addis. My experiences range from Kindergarten through 12th grade, working with mild to severe disabilities. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in elementary education through 9th grade, reading certification, standard special education certification, and a Master’s degree in special education.

Living in Ethiopia and teaching internationally has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. I have been fortunate to explore Ethiopia’s rich history and observe the wonderful wildlife.

I have four children: Tricia and her husband live in Oregon with my grandson; Ian is living with his sister, Tricia; Amani and Bemnet live with me here in Addis. Spending time with Aleksei (my grandson) this summer was the best.
