Michael Dvorak

Grade 4

My name is Michael Dvorak and I'm thrilled to be returning to ICS for my second year of teaching fourth grade. The trees and grass, happy students, professional staff and administration's primary focus on student learning make ICS ideal for my wife, Devon Sigman, and I, as well as our newborn son, Theodore.

I grew up exploring and playing in the hills and along the beaches just south of San Francisco, California. Devon and I have since taken our passions for producing documentary film, adventure sports, teaching and traveling global. We embarked on a year-long global honeymoon two years ago, spanning eighteen countries and six continents.

Knowing education could be more engaging and richer than what I received, I decided in 5th grade that I wanted to become a classroom teacher. Years later, I graduated from California State University Monterey Bay with a B.A. in Liberal Studies and recently received a masters in International Education from Endicott College in Boston. I most recently taught second and third grade on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean at the International School of Dakar in Senegal. Previously, I taught music, art and third grade at the International School of Monterey in California. I believe children thrive academically and socially when they love school and have high quality teachers.
