Mark Carter

MS Social Studies, MS Electives

My name is Mark Carter and I am excited to be enjoying my second year with the middle school team. This will be my fourth year teaching here at ICS. I was born and raised in Vancouver, BC, where I attended school. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Classical Studies from the University of British Columbia in 2004. I then earned a Bachelor of Education from UBC in 2005 and began teaching grades 5, 6, and 7 in Richmond, BC. I hold my professional certificate from the British Columbia College of Teachers in Canada. I am currently completing my Master’s courses with the State University of New York, Buffalo State and will be finishing this year.

After teaching my first year in BC, I decided to travel overseas and ended up in South Korea where I taught for a year. After my year in Korea I came to Ethiopia and have enjoyed calling it my home. When I’m not in the classroom I can often be found on the sports field, where I like to play a variety of sports including tennis, ultimate, and football. In my time at ICS I have coached Football (otherwise known as Soccer), Volleyball, and Track and Field. I am also an avid rock climber, cyclist, and runner in my spare time. Music is another passion of mine and I enjoy playing guitar and bass guitar and can occasionally be seen playing in bands around Addis Ababa.

Please feel free to introduce yourself to me if you see me around campus or drop me a line at mark.carter(at)icsaddis.edu.et!
