 HS/ IB Visual Arts

With the general aim of preparing students to confront an increasingly complicated visual environment worldwide, and be challenged by them, I thought visual arts since 1995 on.

Graduated with a Master's Degree in Fine Arts from the Université de Haute Bretagne, Rennes, France, I started teaching silk-screening at the University’s print making studio for two years, while completing my Bachelor Degree. In 2000, the School of Fine Arts & Design, Addis Ababa University offered me the position of lecturer of Art Theory & Aesthetics for three years. I then spent two years affiliated with the Institute of Ethiopian Studies working on a film project documenting the Ethiopian contemporary art scene. Since 2008, I am teaching visual arts at the International Community School, trying my best to enhance their capacity to produce art works and experiment with different media. I try to take care of the ABCs of art, but as there is always the X, the unknown, I try to allow for that too, keeping the program elastic and resilient, allowing for innovation.
