Kirby Boychuk

Assistant Principal for Activities and Athletics

The 2011-2012 school year will be my fifth year at ICS. We enjoy everything about Ethiopia, the great food, great people and great travel opportunities. I have three fantastic daughters Julia (Gr.12), Anastassia (Gr. 10), Oksana (Gr. 8) and my lovely wife, Laurel, teaches Math in the high school. Prior to Ethiopia, our family had lived in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Bahrain and Haiti.

I hail from the great Canadian province of Saskatchewan. Home of the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the U of S Huskies. I played football in Saskatoon and attended the University of Saskatchewan where I earned my B.Ed. majoring in Drama and Physical Education. I received my Masters in Athletic Administration from Ohio University in 2005 and am currently working on my second Masters Degree in Coaching Education & Leadrship from OU. I have worked as an Athletic Director for 20of my 22 years in education. I hold my K-12 Principal Certification from the Province of Saskatchewan and am the Director and founder of IAAAC.

I enjoy talking, learning and debating all the facets of sport and its education value for students. In the fall of 2008 I founded the only International Professional Association for Athletic Administrators & Coaches (IAAAC), which allows AD’s and coaches to network from around the world. Our second conference will be held in Addis this October 2011.

I have a love for the theatre and have performed in over 30 professional productions. I enjoy traveling, relaxing on my cottage deck in the summer and driving my motorcycle to places that I have not yet been. What I enjoy about being as Athletic Director is that I am able to facilitate the creation of memories for our athletes and student body.
