I especially enjoy the unique and often interesting perspective young people offer the world. It provides a sense that the "better world" we are all looking for is "out there" somewhere. New ideas are my passion and young people are an incredible source.

The 2007/08 school year is my third year teaching at ICS. ICS is full of teachers with a desire to explore the "new" as myself. This is my second international teaching experience and first experience in an international school environment. My first international teaching experience involved teacher training as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Namibia.

Living abroad has been a desire of mine since my days as a high school student. Seeing the world from the perspective of peoples so different from me is another avenue for exploring my passion for new ideas. ICS certainly offers the perspective of many cultures; it is similar to visiting dozens of countries minus the airfare.

From the teaching and learning perspective I enjoy the fact that we as teachers still have so much to learn and that there are people around me that enjoy learning. The complexities and challenges of attempting to understand the learning styles of such a unique mix of people are extremely rewarding.

Some of my interests include playing guitar and watching movies. Two of my favorite songs to play are Crawdad by an unknown artist and King of the Road by Roger Miller. My favorite movies include A Beautiful Life directed by Roberto Benigni and Toto the Hero directed by Jaco van Dormael among others.

In addition to my volunteer experience I have worked as an adult educator at a non-profit in inner city Chicago and for an African newspaper. It was with the newspaper that I had the memorable opportunity to interview former US President, Jimmy Carter.
