Joyce Halsey

High School Principal 

I joined ICS Addis in 2006 as a teacher of high school English and Theory of Knowledge. Since then, I have served as the IB Diploma Coordinator and in other capacities before stepping into the role of high school principal in April 2011. 

My background was as a teacher and DP Coordinator in the US for 19 years, including one year on a Fulbright Exchange in the UK. That experience inspired me to move abroad in 2002, and since then I have worked in a number of international schools in England, The Netherlands, Luxembourg, and Ethiopia.

It is an honor to work with students, families, and colleagues who consistently challenge me to maintain respect for all people, an open mind, a sense of adventure, and a sense of humor. We learn from one another in everything we do, and all these qualities make ICS Addis a great place to be.
