Joshua Pabalate
Grade 5
My name is Joshua Pabalate and this is my second year teaching at ICS. Prior to moving to Ethiopia, I spent 18 years living in California in the United States. In that time I acquired a BA from Humboldt State University, a Post Graduate Teaching Credential from San Diego State University, and an MA from BIOLA University. In addition, I met my wonderful wife, Jenna, who also teaches at ICS in the middle and high school. This is my 11th year of teaching and my 14th year of working professionally with youth. Before teaching, I worked as a program director for a Boys & Girls Club where I worked with underprivileged youth.
My wife and I love working and living in Addis Ababa, and we feel privileged to work with the faculty, staff, and families who make up the ICS community. I am especially honored to be apart of my students’ learning and look forward to watching them grow as thinkers and individuals over the course of the year. I am confident that all children can learn when properly motivated and adequately challenged.
My hobbies include hiking, traveling, reading, and surfing
