Franco Curet

Grade 4

This is my first year in Addis Ababa, and I am excited and honored to be a part of the ICS community. I am teaching fourth grade this year, and I anticipate a highly successful year for both the students and myself. Prior to moving to Ethiopia, I spent the past two years teaching at the Hangzhou International School in China. Before my international teaching career began, I taught fourth grade and kindergarten in a bilingual environment in Austin, TX. My previous experience includes working for an advertising agency and advocating for homeless children. I received my bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin, later pursuing a career in education by seeking my teaching certification. I hope to bring energy to the classroom that will be mirrored in the students’ attitude towards learning.

As a child, my father’s work required that we move frequently. Aside from the United States, we lived in Europe and South America, so I have a unique perspective of the needs and challenges of the students at ICS.

I am interested in photography and travel, and I can’t think of a better place to be than in Ethiopia. I feel very fortunate to be in a place that has such a fascinating history. I also look forward to learning a great deal from the diverse population here at ICS.
