Fiona Thangata

MS/HS Math

Hello! My name is Fiona Thangata and I will be teaching Middle and High school Mathematics at ICS this year. I am originally from the UK, where I grew up and began my teaching career. I taught for several years near Manchester and then in Edinburgh, before moving into curriculum development work. Since then, I have taught in schools the USA, Namibia and Botswana, and I was an Education Lecturer at the University of East Anglia, Norwich, UK for 5 years.

I have a BSc in Mathematics and French (University of Manchester, UK), a Masters (University of Edinburgh, UK) and a PhD (University of Florida, USA) both in Mathematics Education. As you can see, I love Maths!
I am looking forward to working with and learning from students and staff at ICS. It’s a great community to be part of!

When not doing maths, I enjoy spending time with my family, being outdoors, listening to music and reading. We have 2 daughters, in Grades 3 and 8, who both love being at ICS.
