Thank you for your interest in the International Community School of Addis Ababa. ICS currently enrolls about 600 students from more than 50 countries. Our professional staff includes sixty full time teachers from eleven countries, many of whom are recruited internationally.

Applying to the School Directly

Application for professional vacancies may be made by email to the School Director (info(@)icsaddis(.)edu(.)et). Please include the following:

  • Letter of interest/application
  • Curriculum Vitae (resume)
  • Letters of recommendation (3)
  • Reference contact details of your current or most recent Principal and School Head

A single PDF file containing the requested documentation is preferred. Please be aware that newer Microsoft “.docx” files may not open or may not retain your desired formatting.

International Recruiting

ICS uses the International School Services (ISS), Search Associates and Council of International Schools (CIS) job fairs as a primary means for teacher recruitment. ICS will be represented at several international recruiting fairs in January/February of 2010. Our current plans include the ISS/Search Fairs in Bangkok, CIS in London, and ISS Boston. We will be interviewing candidates for current openings as well as conducting "speculative" interviews with teachers who have an interest in working in Ethiopia, even if a suitable position is not currently available.

Living in or Moving to Addis?

ICS is always interested in interviewing potential substitutes for short term and long term positions at all levels and in all subject areas. If you live in Addis or are moving to Addis in the near future, and you have training, experience and/or certification as a teacher, please call one of our Principals for an interview!

Continuous Recruitment

ICS employs a continuous recruitment model to fill its local-hire professional staff and professional support staff positions. Individuals interested in employment at ICS should complete the employment application (available at the reception desk). The completed employment application, letter of interest, Curriculum Vitae (resume) and copies of other documents as required should be returned to the reception desk after which interview may be requested with the appropriate school administrator(s). When a vacancy arises, ICS will screen its application file for appropriate candidates. One or more of these candidates may be contacted for additional interviews. If necessary, a given position may be more broadly advertised to secure a wider selection of candidates. Applicant files remain active for two school years and may be discarded if not updated by the applicant.
