MS Science and Math
I love being a Middle school teacher, and I especially love teaching math and science. It is my belief that a dynamic, active classroom is one where a lot of learning can take place. Students in my class will be challenged to develop not only their knowledge of the subjects but also to be good communicators and team players. Technology also plays a large role in the classroom learning environment as a great tool to use when needed. All students will have their own lap tops and will use them to help organize, store and express information related to our studies.
If you can't find me in the classroom, you should look in the gym. I very much enjoy coaching sports teams. The Varsity girls volleyball and basketball teams are my pride and joy. These hard working student-athletes train with me 3-4 times per week towards being at their competitive best.
Outside of school time when I am not coaching my beloved Varsity girls, I enjoy spending time with my little boy Julian, playing tennis against my husband and enjoying Sunday morning family swims. If time allows, our family likes to go down to Lake Langano, camp under our favourite Acacia tree, play in the sand and swim in the warm mineral water.
My background includes growing up on the west coast of Canada, in the beautiful city of Vancouver. I earned my Bachelor degree in Science from the University of British Columbia and my Masters degree in Education from MUM, Iowa. I have taught at two private schools in the US, New York and Iowa, before coming to Ethiopia. Currently, I am working on another masters degree in education with the ICS SUNY Masters program.
I really love working with the students at the International Community School of Addis Ababa. I look forward to developing an exciting and dynamic learning environment in which each student can achieve their full potential.
