Betty Chang
MS/HS Band, Choir, Grade 5 Band
I am very pleased to be encouraging your children in their musical endeavors at ICS for a third year. This year, I will be teaching Grade 5 beginning band with Mr. Olaf Boelson, middle school and high school bands, high school choir and IB music.
Born and raised in Taiwan and America, respectively, I’ve taught music internationally for over ten years (in Taiwan, Thailand, Poland and Indonesia). I also conduct The Motley Singers here in Addis Ababa, occasionally accompany conductors at international choral festivals (through AMIS), can repair instruments after attending CIOMIT and being connected professionally through MENC.
I received my Bachelor’s of Music Education degree from Wheaton College in Illinois and my Masters of Music in Music Education degree from University of Southern California.
In addition to being an advocate of music education and a supporter of bridging cultural gaps, I enjoy playing with Fireball (my dog), volleyball, basketball, swimming, doing artwork, watching good movies, listening to live jazz, traveling, canoeing, kayaking, camping, bicycling, instrument repair work and eating delicious food from all over the world!!!
