Astrid Shiferaw
MS/HS Electives
Hello everyone. My name is ASTRID C. SHIFERAW and I teach MS Electives. This is my 26th year at ICS and truly, I have enjoyed every minute of my life at ICS. I am married to Ato Yewondwosen Shiferaw and he’s the first reason why I’m here in Ethiopia and of course the next reason is ICS!
I graduated with a degree in General Science from the University of the Philippines. After graduation, I taught for three years at the Ramon Magsaysay High School in Cubao, Quezon City, until the adventure of travelling to Africa got hold of me, and I came to Ethiopia to teach Science at the Fasiledes Comprehensive High School in Gondar where I met my husband.
After 9 years in Gondar, my husband , myself and our two children moved to Sokoto Nigeria, where we both worked with the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Works respectively. In 1986, we decided we had enough of Nigeria, so we decided to come home to Ethiopia and we have been here ever since.
ICS has been my family for the past 26 years. Teaching Chemistry, Middle School Science and Electives had been my exciting assignments and everything has been a wonderful experience for me. ICS is a truly international community and our students, Staff and Administrators together makes one big happy family for me.
I am happy to recommend international teachers to come and join us here at ICS. You won’t regret it!
