Andre De Koker
Grade 5
About 14 years ago, my wife and I left our home country of South Africa and ventured off into Asia. We began teaching at a small international school in Turkmenistan, while at the same time studying for our Masters in Elementary Education through The College of New Jersey, USA. We have since taught in various schools in Central Asia and China. ICS marks our return to Africa and I am thrilled.
Being my first year at ICS, I am looking forward to getting to know the community as well as working closely with my grade 5 colleagues to enhance the program of study at our grade level, making sure we focus on student learning and community. One of my passions is technology integration and I endeavor to look for opportunities to learn new skills and develop plans that will incorporate technology to enhance and support solid teaching practices in the classroom.
Outside the classroom, you will usually find me with a cup of coffee and a good non-fiction book.
