Alice Brown
MS/HS Math, TOK

I’m a proud alumna of the Ohio State University, which means that I get really excited when anyone mentions “The Buckeyes.” I earned undergraduate degrees in mathematics and philosophy, before moving to New York City. There I spent five years teaching middle school math in the Bronx, two years earning a master’s degree in education at Pace University, and every season falling in love with Central Park.
This is my third year at ICS. I’ll be teaching Geometry, Algebra II, IB Math Studies, and Theory of Knowledge. After school, I spend most afternoons at the track – coaching cross country in the fall and track in the spring. I also enjoy being part of the drama department when called upon to direct a one-act play or judge an improve competition.
Over the past two years, I’ve travelled extensively, but my greatest adventures have been around Addis. Since learning how to ride the mini-buses, I’ve spent many weekends finding and documenting green spaces in the city and brain-storming improvements in public transportation. When I want to relax, I bike, hike, read, or blog.
