How to Start Collecting Bottle Caps
My favorite hobby is collecting bottle caps. I started collecting them 8 months ago. I have over three hundred of them now, and I hope to collect over 1000 before two years are over. I have collected more than 15 different type of bottle caps, including beer, wine, and all different kinds of soft drink.
I collect bottle caps for sport, and also to make jewelry out of. bottle caps make very decorative earrings and necklaces, and I think I'll give them away as Christmas presents.
To start this hobby you need to ask your parents whether or not it's OK for you to keep bottle caps because they may not be too keen on having to pick them up for you, which brings me to another point- equipment. First of all, you need a box to keep them in. You will also need a notebook to record how many you have.
The benefits of this hobby are becoming better in communication skills and becoming a more organized collector. To get info about this hobby, contact a person you know who collects bottle caps. I contacted one of my church friends who had been collecting for a while. A person who would enjoy this hobby would be someone neat and organized. Someone who was sloppy would not be able keep very many.
The only costs for this hobby are some cleaning materails to clean dirty caps and a container if you want somehting fancier than a box.
You might come across a waitress that thinks you want a cup instead of a bottle cap but just keep trying and you will get it! Bottle cap collecting is pretty easy, because bottle caps are found in any restaurant.
As you can see, bottle cap collecting is a neat and unique hobby. Have fun collecting!
