David Redmond, High School Principal
Dear Parents, Below please find important information on current and upcoming events in the High School.
ISSEA Track and Field and Volleyball
Over fifty ICS athletes, coaches, and officials participated in the recent ISSEA Festivals in Johannesburg and Kampala last week. The competition was demanding and the results were hard-won. All of our players represented the ICS community in the polite, respectful manner that has become one of the hallmarks of these events and certainly something that ICS has become well known for these past years. Students had the opportunity to make new friends, set new records, and discover more about their own potential as they went beyond their comfort zones in these challenging events. We should all be proud of our ISSEA student-athletes, so when you see one wearing his or her red hoody, please give them a high-five!
IBDP Presentation for Grade 10 Parents
The coming weeks offer important steps in academic counseling for our high school students as we review results from the Progress Reports and help students to review their goals. We will also begin the long process of course selection for all Grade 10 students. We will offer an introductory session for all grade ten parents on Tuesday, November 29. This meeting focuses on course selection for Grade 11 and 12 courses and for all IBDP courses. Our counselors, IBDP Coordinator, students, Heads of Department, and CAS Coordinator will all be present to discuss the many diverse aspects of our program. Parents are a vital part of the decision-making process and are well advised to attend. As choices for students widen and university applications become more and more complex, it is absolutely necessary for all of us to remain well informed and connected. The choices that parents and our Grade 10 students make in collaboration with our counselors have significant implications on college admissions and future career plans, and so close communication between home and school on this matter is vital. Please make every effort to attend this information session.
CIS College Fair
On Wednesday Nov. 2, we were fortunate to have a number of College Representatives visiting us from various universities abroad. Representatives from more than 20 universities and colleges on campus visited our campus, providing an excellent opportunity for parents and students to meet face-to-face with them. Our counseling department has sent out further information on this event. This is an important piece in preparing for college, and we thank those parents who were able to attend.
High School Photos
It’s that time of year. We are taking Yearbook photos this week and next week, so please be prepared to have your children wear their best clothes for the occasion. Grades 9, 11, and 12 photos finished this week. Grade 10 photos will be taken on November 9. Students are asked to be dressed respectably and to be well groomed. The photos will be used in the Yearbook and on school ID cards. Students will have the schedule in advance.

High School Counselors
We hope you had a wonderful fall break and have been able to spend some time together as a family. November will be a busy month in the high school! We kicked off yesterday with the PSAT and the CIS University Fair on Wednesday, November 2. We encourage you to ask your students about what they learned during the special sessions with the university representatives as well as the university fair.
We will also be revisiting a very important topic, Digital Citizenship with students in grades 9 and 10. We are offering an opportunity for all high school parents to engage with this topic as well. Please join us for “Parenting in the Digital Age” on Wednesday, November 9, details below. We encourage you to talk with your students at home about the importance of digital citizenship. Common Sense media provides some great talking points that can be found by clicking here.
