High School Principal, David Redmond

A warm welcome back to school! 2016-17 is off to an exciting start in the high school. We have had a day of orientation activities during which students have met in Advisory groups, attended sessions on Information Technology, Creativity Action Service (CAS), the Extended Essay, and to meet one another and our new counselors. Students have been issued their schedules, lockers, and logistical information to enable them to get off to a good start right away. We also had time to meet with our new IBDP Coordinator, Mrs. Heidi Zickefoose and of course we sang our School Song and welcomed new students from countries all over the world.

This year, we welcome five new teachers and counselors to the High School. You’ll have an opportunity to meet them on 25 August at our annual Back to School Night. I look forward to seeing you then if not before.

I would like to remind parents to read and accept the Acceptable Use of Technology Terms in our Parent/Student Handbook and to sign the Agreement forms as soon as possible. Students will not have access to our Internet until the signed forms have been returned to the IT Office. Students who will be using school laptops are asked to submit their deposits to the cashier as soon as possible. Laptop distribution for high school students takes place from 15 - 18 August. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Please note that students may request course changes through the High School Counseling Office only until 19 August 2016. All such requests require the signature of parents and the approval of the High School Counselor and/or IBDP Coordinator. Course changes are subject to availability and may not always be possible.

After School Activities sign-ups will begin next week, and our U19 athletics tryouts starts this week. Please discuss these activities with your child with regards to balancing academic, family, and other commitments. We do encourage all students to participate in our activities and we hope to see parents at our events as well.

Please plan on joining us at the annual Back to School Night on 25 August from 6:30 - 9:00 PM. You will want to mark your calendars for this opportunity to meet our teachers.

I look forward to working with you this year to create a joyful and vigorous learning experience for your child at ICS. We expect each child to be challenged and to be successful in all aspects of school, and we will work in partnership with parents toward this end.

Please continue to read the weekly Yezare Samint for important information regarding our high school program, and please don’t hesitate to contact me at for any matter pertaining to your child’s education.
