High School Principal, David Redmond

Welcome back to another semester of in the high school. Students will be embarking on a number of exciting projects this term in community service, sports, arts, and in all of the curricular areas. We look forward to working with parents in partnership to support students as they learn throughout the year.

The New Year marks the beginning of the second semester. This is a time for students to set goals based on the results in semester one, which they have been doing during their Advisory periods this week. Please take a moment to discuss the results with your child and to help them to set goals for this semester. If you would like to arrange a meeting with any of your child's teachers, the counselors, or me, please feel free to contact us at any time.

Important Information for Grade 12 Students

As our IBDP students have finished their Extended Essays and the Theory of Knowledge (TOK) course has come to a close, we have an opening in the schedule for an additional period. We use this as bonus time for IB Higher Level courses, where teachers coordinate with one another to plan extra instruction in these courses and to use the periods, in some cases, to prepare for or to take tests.

This offers our students a considerable advantage in preparing for the more demanding Higher Level courses. So you will no longer see TOK on their schedules and instead they are using this time to work on other courses.

We will have a full semester of activities coming up, with the annual student-run variety show known as “The Big Show” in February, Spirit Week, internal assessments, hosting the ISSEA Soccer tournament and of course the IBDP mock exams, which are set to take place from March 27 to 31. The last day of classes for seniors is April 21 and IBDP and Senior Exams begin on Monday, May 1. Further reminders will be sent home about these events but for now this should enable you to plan ahead.

Many of our senior students are in the midst of applying to universities. Some of them have already received news of their acceptances. Please check out the notice board outside the gym to see the exciting prospects for ICS graduates as they take the next steps toward post-secondary education. Congratulations to all of our Grade 12 students.

Please continue to read the weekly Yezare Samint for important information regarding our high school program, and please don’t hesitate to contact me at for any matter pertaining to your child’s education.
