Elementary Character Days
Students in kindergarten to grade 5 participated in the 4th annual elementary character days. Team-building activities included students working in a co-operative manner to get balloons across an opposing team's line, using foam noodles, and transporting water with another person in a 3-legged race. In another activity, students helped blindfolded team members land imaginary planes without hitting any of the objects along the runway. The character days give students an opportunity to reflect on how their involvement in the activities align themselves with the IB Learner Profile traits. Some participants might have left character day asking themselves "how was I a risk taker, a communicator, caring, or a thinker, helping my friend walk blindfolded at the "Airport" station?" Mr. Derek, the elementary counselor, would like to thank all of the teachers and teaching assistants for their hard work on both days. Special thanks to Ms. Sophie and Ms. Birknesh for their time and efforts getting all of the materials ready for the various character day stations. See you next year at the 5th annual character days!
