On Friday April 16, the Pre Kindergarten to Grade 5 teachers, teaching assistants and students participated in various team building activities during their Elementary Character Day.  The Pre-Kindergarten students got to an early start as they had their Character Day a day earlier on Thursday.  They were able to do their team building activities which were "The Eraser Game", "Having a Ball" and "Froggies on a Pad" inside their classrooms on that rainy day.  The weather was on our side a day later on the Friday which meant that the Grades 1 and 2 students enjoyed participating in their activities "Rabbits, Caterpillars and Turtles", "Ready Aim, Forehead" and "Goin' for a Ride" in the morning and the Grades 3, 4 and 5 students did their team building activities in the afternoon.  The activities for the older grades 3, 4 and 5 included games such as "Blindfolded Bean Bag Buddies", "Marble Bean Soup" and "Down the Tubes".   The main purpose of Character Day was to give the Elementary students an opportunity to reflect upon how their involvement in each Character Day activity related to the traits of the IB Learner Profile.  For example, students might think about how they were a risk taker, a communicator, a thinker, open minded, etc. in each of the activities as they completed their Student Reflection sheet.  It was a wonderful day filled with laughter, smiles and a great deal of cooperation.  I would like to thank all of the Elementary teachers, teaching assistants, parents and other ICS staff members who helped make our Elementary Character Day a big success.
