Elementary PE Department: Elementary Track and Field Day

The Annual ICS Elementary Track & Field meet for Grades K-2 has been scheduled for Thursday morning 8 December between 8:30 and 11:15 AM. The Grades 3-5 meet will be Friday afternoon 9 December 2016 between 12:45 and 3:15 PM, both on the ICS main soccer field (upper field).

Purpose:  Promote Teamwork, Perseverance, and Healthy Competition.

Which skills we are working on: 

  • Social Skills: Cooperating, Respecting Others  
  • Self-Management Skills: Gross Motor Skills, Spatial Awareness, Physical & Emotional Strength

Learner Profile Trait & Attitudes: 

  • Learner Profile: Inquirers, Courageous, & Open-minded
  • Attitudes: Commitment, Cooperation, Appreciation, & Enthusiasm 

Central Idea: "Through a commitment to individual pursuits of body movement, we build our skills and character."

There will be a total of 8 events, namely, Sprints, Hurdles, 3-Legged Race, Ball Throw, Sack Race, Long Jump, High Jump, & Relays. Kindergarten students will participate in 3 events, while Grades 1-5 participate in at least 3 events, and a maximum of 5. All children will be identified as “Red” (Falcons) and “White” (Hawks).  Students on the Red team will wear red or mostly red T-shirts, while students on White team will wear white or mostly white T-shirt on the day of the event. Your child should be able to tell you which team he/she is on soon.

We appreciate parents’ cooperation in providing and helping their children put on their appropriate colors on the day of the meet.

Parent volunteers to help out with officiating the various events are most welcome. No expertise other than willingness to help is needed.  A sign-up sheet will be sent home through your child next week.

Holiday Concert

The Elementary School children are busy working very hard on learning their songs for the Holiday Concert!

All parents are invited to attend the performances!

KG, Grades 1, 2:  14 December, 8:15 AM, Large Amphitheatre

Grades 3, 4, 5: 15 December, 6:30 PM, Large Amphitheatre

DRESS: All children must please be dressed in white tops and black shorts, trousers or skirts.

If the children would like, they may wear a festive hat or a small decoration in red or green pinned to their shirt.

K-2 Arts Showcase

All students in grades K-2 have selected a piece of their artwork to be displayed on 14 December. Please take the time to view this art exhibition before or after the holiday concert.
