Athletics

The biggest Track and Field meet in the country starts this Thursday afternoon at ICS. Over 460 athletes will be running, jumping and throwing for glory over three days in the ISSAAA international school meet. A soft opening on Thursday with 3000m, Triple Jump and Javelin will be followed by two full days of everything else!

Please note the fields and the track will be transformed but will also be off limits from midday Thursday until Saturday evening for this event for the whole community

The first banners of Season 1 were played for and won this week. Our U16 boys were able to achieve an excellent 3rd place in Volleyball while the girls went one better and won the runners-up banner at a great morning at Bingham. U19 Volleyball, U14 basketball and of course Track and Field banners will all be resolved in the course of the next week.

Monday 14 November

  • Grade 8 Boys Basketball vs the ICS76's for third place@ ICS
  • U14 Girls Basketball finals-Opposition and venue to be announced (check the white board outside the gym)

U12 Soccer--Due to ISSAAA Track and Field there is NO soccer Thursday or Saturday this week. Girls will resume Monday and Boys Thursday with the final soccer festival of the season the following Saturday

Season 2 Team Sport Start Dates, Days and Coaches are now all known and advertised around the gym. Once, most of the season 1 sports are concluded we will begin season 2. All players wanting to play on ICS teams need to take home and return signed the Athletic Code of conduct.

Season 1 Sports Night date change--due to a delay in the play-offs the Sports awards night has been pushed back a week to Wednesday, 23 November. A hard copy invite will go out to all U14/U16 and U19 team players. It will be a food pot luck evening and student athletes should assemble at 5:00 PM for a prompt 5:30 PM start. The evening should conclude at 7:00 PM and this night is always a special opportunity to close out and review the sports season.

Activities

The Season 2 ES ASA brochure will be going out this Friday to each class. Please review the process, the Q and A (which has some new information) and peruse the many opportunities available. Sign up for ES will begin next Tuesday at 2:45 PM. Please have your devices ready before this and have some back-up plans too as inevitably some of these choices will be full very quickly.

MS ASA sign up will take part in Advisory next Friday 18 November while the portal will also open for HS the same day and time.
