International trips

Trip season is upon us and plans are well underway for the upcoming MUN and language trips that take place in October. Parents with children going on these trips do need to keep track of trip deadlines and allow plenty of time for setting up embassy appointments for notarization's and/or interviews as these can be problematic.

Trip packets will be going out next week for those students selected for ISSEA Volleyball and Track and Field teams. These trips take place just after the October break so all documents need to be processed well ahead of this vacation time if families are planning on traveling outside Ethiopia during it.

Activities

The forewarning of ES ASA filling up very quickly was seen in record time on Tuesday. The 42 activities for this division are almost all full for season 1 which begins next week 29 August. As a courtesy to other children, if your child no longer wants to attend the ASA, please do inform the ASA office as there are long waiting lists for many of these activities. Parents are reminded that a prompt pick up at the loop area is expected on the days children have their ASA. Please arrange that someone is there to meet your child at 4:30 PM on those occasions.

MS students have had some time in advisory this week to sign up for their ASAs and HS students are expected to sign up individually in their own time before the first Monday of ASA next week.

Athletics

HS sports are well into their seasons and as the local schools come back in the next two weeks we can expect some early volleyball games to be scheduled in September.

3 MS basketball teams tipped off this week with good numbers and energy.

In ES, U12 Soccer and Cross Country starts next week alongside the ASA program. Please ensure soccer players have shin guards and please refer to the practice schedule as there are a couple of changes this year to help improve the facilities and afternoon storms management in both these teams.

Facilities

Fields are still off limits for casual use please. You may well see ICS soccer teams on parts of the fields, but the fields remain closed to the community at all times until further notice while we wait for drier weather. Thank you for your support in staying off them as they are still extremely boggy.
