Choir
The ICS Choral program begins in second and third grade. Students are given the opportunity to sing at concerts (twice a year) and musicals in the grade 2-3 choir or the grade 4-5 choir.
In Middle School, students can select amongst the electives to sing in the choir. Students sing a range of repertoire from contemporary to classical and are given individual voice instruction throughout the year.
In High School, students are given a wide variety performing opportunities ranging from Open House to Spring Carnivals to school concerts (three times a year) and outreach concerts (i.e. local hospitals). Students in high school choir also learn sight-reading skills, music theory and music history to help prepare them for IB Music.
IB Music is also a course that is provided for students who want to dive further into music. Students in choir or band can choose to study IB Music through the two performance options: solo or group. IB music encourages students to listen critically and analyze music using accurate music terminology. Students taking IB Music will listen to a wide range of music from the Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Modern eras and world music.
