Re-enrollment Intent for 2017-18

As we make plans for the coming school year, it is important that we have a clear assessment of the potential student population at ICS. Many of our grade levels are full this year and we anticipate that this trend will continue. In the past week parents were sent an electronic request to complete an online survey to let us know your re-enrollment intent for the 2017-18 school year. Please check your spam folder if you did not receive it.

We ask all parents to complete the survey by tomorrow, 27 January. It is not a commitment for enrollment, either from you or from the school. We understand that you may not yet know your plans for next year. Please answer as best you can at this time.

The official re-enrollment process will begin in March and further information will be sent to parents at that time. To hold a space for your child for the 2017-18 school year, you will be asked to re-enroll your child and pay the $500 registration fee by Thursday 13 April 2017.

Community Event: Cheese, Wine and Art evening

Be sure to join us tomorrow to Welcome Back families from the break and to Welcome new families.

There will be wine, cheese, musical performances by ICS students and a pop-up gallery with great work from local artists sponsored by Makush Art Gallery. All paintings are available for purchase.  Plus, Makush Gallery will donate back 20% of all sales.

A big Shout out to parents Ceclia Brizuela & Svetleva Gimbel for organizing.

Health and Safety

ICS has been made aware of two attacks on cyclists over the past two weeks in the Entoto area. One attack was on a foreigner. Both attacks, though in different areas, were aggressive. A knife was used in one, but was removed from the attacker. The motives for both attacks seem to be robbery, phones and the bikes etc.

ICS advises that care should be taken when cycling and walking in Entoto. If walking and cycling in Entoto this should be done in groups, as there is safety in numbers.

Also, this week is Africa Summit Week and with many Head of States in Addis. Traffic is expected to be bad from Friday – Sunday around Addis, so venture out at your own peril as you quite possibly may be sitting in traffic jams.

Reminder: Early Childhood 2 Program at ICS Addis

We are pleased to announce that the program will be opening for the 2017-18 school year. Spaces will be limited, so we encourage you to complete the application process as soon as possible to reserve a space for your child. Please note applicants need to be two years old on or by 31 August.

As previously noted, applicants with siblings already attending ICS have priority in our admissions process. Any current families who apply for their children will be accepted in order of completion of the application requirements. To ensure that these current families have the opportunity to apply for their youngest children, all applicants for EC2 who are in category 4 of our admissions priority guidelines will be placed on the wait list until 31 January 2017. After that date, we will accept all applicants in order of receipt of the application requirements.
