Activities & Athletics – Mick Cooper, Athletic Director
This is the final week of season 3 activities. Thank you for your participation in them and we look forward to next year with anticipation. Plans are already in place for next year's ASA program and with more facilities this should enable higher numbers and a whole host of quality choices for the students.
Please remember that next week, until the end of the school year there are no more after school activities and students should be picked up at normal dismissal time.
Sports night was awesome last night. We were graced by famous two-time Olympic gold medalist Meseret Defar who presented awards to departing coaches and to the following students.
- MS Male Athlete of the Year-Aaron Assefa
- MS Female Athlete of the Year- Nadia Iglar
- HS Male Athlete of the Year-Elias Ture Girma
- HS Female Athlete of the Year-Maeve Redmond
- Plisinski award- Wedu Ketema
It was a fun and enjoyable evening to round off season 3 and the school year. Season 1 sports will be just around the corner before long and all athletes are encouraged to stay fit, attend a sports camp if possible and purchase appropriate footwear, shin guards, mouth guards and socks over the summer to be ready for next year.
Though school trips are some months away it is always beneficial to check passports, yellow fever cards and resident ID's if your child is likely to go on one of the first round of trips (Varsity Volleyball, Varsity Track and Field, Spanish and French Trips) and have these renewed where necessary in the holiday, rather than wait upon your return here if you are out of the country this summer.
Have a great week!
