ALEXANDRA MIRKOWSKI

I'm Alexandra Mirkowski and this is my fourth year at ICS. I am originally from New York. However, I have spent a lot of time living in different countries.

I got my B.A. with Honors in French and Italian at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. I received my M.A. in Media Studies at The New School For Social Research in New York, USA. I also have certificates in Teaching English as a Foreign Language and in Filmmaking. I am currently working on a second master's degree in Education.

Although I have taught ESL before, this is my first teaching experience at an international school. I have taught Video Journalism and French at ICS. Prior to coming to Addis, I lived in New York and worked in the Compliance Department of Merrill Lynch and Deutsche Bank as a Training Specialist. During the weekends, I would work on short films and documentaries.

My hobbies include making short films, reading and traveling. I enjoy working at ICS because of its international environment. I love working with the children. They keep my ideas flowing and they teach me something new everyday.
