BRIAN GREENOUGH
HS/IB History, Social Studies

This is my second year as part of the ICS family and this year I will be teaching IB History Standard and Higher Level, 9th grade World History and Model United Nations. One of my primary concerns is to help my students learn how to read more effectively and write more clearly. Through readings, research and discussion I hope to foster in my students a more subtle and complex understanding of how they view the world. It is through this understanding that we can learn that our differences are strengths and not hurdles to be overcome.

This is my first international posting and previous to Ethiopia I worked in the public schools of San Mateo, California and Olympia, Washington for a total of four years. I have also taught AP World History, Psychology, Sociology and Contemporary World Studies. Prior to teaching I grew up in California and spent my college years in New Hampshire earning both B.A. in History and a teaching credential. When not in the classroom, I enjoy backpacking, playing Ultimate Frisbee, going to the beach and reading.
